AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF DESOTO COUNTY TO DEPOSIT VENDING MACHINE PROCEEDS INTO A SPECIAL FUND TO BE USED FOR BENEVOLENT PURPOSES FOR COUNTY EMPLOYEES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. (1) The Board of Supervisors of DeSoto County, Mississippi, in its discretion, by resolution duly adopted and entered on its minutes, may create a special fund in the county treasury to be known as the "Vending Machine Special Fund," into which may be deposited a portion of the proceeds, not to exceed One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) per year, due to the county from the vending machines located at county facilities and on property owned by the county. Money deposited into the Vending Machine Special Fund shall be used for the benevolent purpose of commemorating special occasions for county employees. The board of supervisors shall appoint a committee, to be comprised of three (3) employees of the county, to administer the fund, and expenditures from the fund shall be upon the recommendation of the committee. The board of supervisors shall include guidelines for the expenditure of monies in the Vending Machine Special Fund in the resolution creating the fund.

(2) This section shall be repealed from and after July 1, 2004.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
